Confor: Promoting forestry and wood
Confor represents almost 2000 members from all parts of the timber supply chain, including growers, woodland managers, suppliers, contractors, harvesters, primary and secondary processors and students. Confor provides the industry with a strong voice in the market place and in all levels of government - international, UK, country and local.

Confor is, first and foremost, a members' organisation, funded by and accountable to businesses in the industry. Its aim is to promote the market for wood, forest products and forest services, and to help improve the industry's competitiveness.

Confor aims to help build the market for timber, timber products and forest services, create a supportive policy environment for the forest industries and to help members become more competitive and successful. The APF Exhibition is a wholly owned subsidiary of Confor.

Confor members get priority booking and discounted rates for APF 2016 stand space.

The Demo Team
The APF Demo is run by a small dedicated committee who, when not organising the exhibition, work , or have worked, for many years in the forest industry.

Mike Box – Exhibition Director
Mike took over as director in 2008 moving up from his previous role as chief co-ordinator and has been involved with the exhibition since 1984. Mikes role is to oversee all aspects of the Exhibition, liaise with our hosts and identify potential new locations. When not running the event Mike runs his own forestry management and consultancy company based in Devon, Forest & Land Management Ltd.

Ian Millward – Exhibition Secretary
Ian has been Exhibition secretary since 1994 after taking over the role from the very first Secretary Tony Phillips. Prior to that Ian had worked as a Co-ordinator for the Exhibition and has been involved in helping at the Demo since 1984. Ians role is to handle all aspects of Exhibition administration, exhibitor liasion, ticketing, marketing, advertising, press and financial control. Besides the Exhibition Ian runs his own Woodland Consultancy and Contracting business, Millward Forestry based in Surrey and a Christmas Tree wholesaling business, Trees For Christmas.

Marks job is to control and organise the setting up and running of the event on the ground. Away from the Demo Mark runs his own forestry contracting business, Lakeland Forestry, based in Cumbria.

Gordon Adam – Safety Officer
Gordon took over the role from Alan Powell. His job is to liaise with exhibitors and contractors and ensure the site is safe for visitors and exhibitors, that exhibitors are abiding by all current H&SE guidelines and best practice, demonstrations are safe and the necessary risk assessments, insurances and other paperwork are in place. Being the safety officer at the Demo is somewhat of a busman’s holiday for Gordon as he also carries out this role for the Forestry Commission.

Roger Wicks – Materials Co-ordinator
Roger took over the job from Alan Cobb and has helped out previously for many years in a variety of other roles. Rogers job is to supply timber and materials for exhibitors to use in their demonstrations, provide our own fencing requirements as well as machinery to assist with stand construction. Roger worked for many years as the chief timber buyer for Ercol furniture. He now runs his own landscaping business in Buckinghamshire

Chris Inglis – Executive Director ConFor
The APF Exhibition is a wholly owned subsidiary of ConFor. As well as executive director of ConFor, Chris is also their Company Secretary. Chris provides the link between the two organisations, reporting back to the ConFor board and in essence represents the views of the APF Demo’s sole shareholder ConFor. Besides his work with the Demo and ConFor Chris also does forest consultancy work.
